How many years can you live with a total mastectomy?

Nipple cancer is generally referred to as breast cancer. In case of early stage breast cancer, after standardized treatment, the 5-year survival rate is usually 89.9%, and life expectancy will not be affected in some patients. If it is middle or late stage breast cancer, the survival time may be 2~3 years, but there will be patients who get longer survival time. The exact length of time a breast cancer patient can live after total excision depends on the type of pathology, clinical stage, and treatment effect. In case of early-stage breast cancer, after undergoing total mastectomy and completing the corresponding postoperative treatment, the 5-year survival rate of patients is generally 89.9%, and they are even able to survive for a long time. In the case of middle to late stage breast cancer, due to the emergence of local infiltration or distant metastasis, it is not easy to be cured, and patients have a higher possibility of recurrence, with an overall median survival time of 2~3 years, but with the continuous improvement of diagnostic and treatment technology, the survival time of the patients has been significantly prolonged. In conclusion, the survival time after total mastectomy is not clear, and patients should receive standardized treatment under the guidance of doctors after surgery and undergo regular review.
