Is abdominal tuberculosis serious?

Abdominal tuberculosis is a type of extrapulmonary tuberculosis that involves a wide range of abdominal organs, including the liver, gastrointestinal tract, lymph nodes, and the female reproductive system such as the uterus and adnexa. Abdominal tuberculosis is a relatively heavy type of tuberculosis, with a slow onset of treatment. Most patients with abdominal tuberculosis have a poor outcome, and anti-tuberculosis treatment takes longer than that for pulmonary tuberculosis alone. The number of organs and sites where tuberculosis appears is higher, and the treatment time is longer, in some cases more than 1-1.5 years, depending mainly on the recovery of symptoms.
