Can lung cancer be cured when it is in advanced stage?

Patients with lung cancer that has progressed to an advanced stage is very difficult to cure, and some treatments such as radiotherapy can be used to extend the patient’s survival.

Lung cancer is a common malignant tumor of the respiratory system, and it is a very serious disease that has a certain chance of being cured if treated early, but if it has progressed to an advanced stage, the chances of a complete cure are very slim. The survival of some patients with advanced lung cancer can even reach more than 5 years if they are treated with more appropriate methods.

The outcome of lung cancer treatment depends on the stage of the disease. Relatively early stage lung cancer, with small lesions and no lymph node metastases, can be cured by simple surgery. After mid-stage, surgical removal of the lesions and locally metastasized lymph nodes, together with chemotherapy, also has a chance to be curable. The most important thing is that the patient has a good chance of being cured, but if the lung cancer has metastasized throughout the body, surgery and radiotherapy are no longer suitable, so the chance of being cured is very small.
