Are head CTs for children harmful?

Head CT in children is not very harmful. CT is a scanning procedure through X-rays, and the main side effect may be the problem of radiation, but the amount of auxiliary radiation when doing head CT is very small, within the tolerance range of the body, and will not cause any harm to children. The plain scanning of the head CT can be used to diagnose problems with the blood vessels in the patient’s skull or intracranial diseases. Children who are suspected of having a brain tumor or traumatic brain injury should always have a CT head exam to make an initial determination. CT head examination is widely used in the clinic, mainly for cerebral hemorrhage, traumatic brain injury, intracranial hematoma, subarachnoid hemorrhage, cerebral infarction, tumors of the brain, brain occupations, as well as hydrocephalus, cerebral atrophy, cerebral parasitic disease, encephalitis and other diseases to make a diagnosis.
