What does a mildly bulging disc mean?

Mild bulging of the disc is a form of disc herniation, and there are three types of disc herniation depending on the degree, namely bulging, protrusion and prolapse, and mild bulging of the disc is the mildest one. The disc protrudes backward to a very slight degree, forming only a mild bulge, and mild bulge means that after the disc protrudes, the nerve roots and the dural sac spinal cord compression is relatively light, the clinical symptoms and nerve damage is relatively light, and does not require surgery, so mild bulge indicates that the disc lesion is mild.
