What causes jaundice in patients with hepatitis

Jaundice in patients with hepatitis may be caused by the following factors: 1. The combination of unconjugated bilirubin in the blood is impaired after inflammation of the liver cells, so that unconjugated bilirubin cannot be successfully converted into conjugated bilirubin, and jaundice with mainly elevated unconjugated bilirubin occurs, which is more often seen in patients with cirrhosis. 2. This condition is commonly seen in patients with biliary hepatitis. 3. Jaundice characterized by elevated bilirubin in both the hepatocytes’ ability to convert unconjugated bilirubin and to secrete direct bilirubin, mainly seen in patients with acute and chronic hepatitis and liver failure.
