Impotence (CCMD-3 Diagnostic Criteria) Impotence is defined as an adult male who has sexual desire but has difficulty producing or maintaining an erection required for satisfactory sexual intercourse, such as an inability to have an erection during sexual intercourse or an inadequate or short-lived erection that prevents vaginal penetration. However, during masturbation, in sleep, and in the morning when waking up, an erection can be achieved. Diagnostic criteria: 1. Men meet the diagnostic criteria for non-organic sexual dysfunction. A. A full erection at the beginning of intercourse (before vaginal intercourse), but the erection disappears or decreases when intercourse is about to take place or before ejaculation. B. Partial erection, but not sufficient for intercourse. C. Does not produce swelling of the penis. D. Never had a full erection required for sexual intercourse. E. An erection is produced only when sexual intercourse is not contemplated.
