How genital prostheses work

The working principle of genital prosthesis is to implant the penile prosthesis into the cavernous body of the penis, when it is necessary to have sex, through the valve to control the liquid in the reservoir bladder to squeeze the liquid into the penile prosthesis, so as to make the penis erect so as to complete the sexual intercourse, and then open the valve after the end of the sexual intercourse, the liquid in the prosthesis back to the reservoir bladder, and the penis returns to the state of weakness. Clinically, genital prosthesis is mainly used for male patients with organic erectile dysfunction, or patients with erectile dysfunction for whom conservative treatment is ineffective. After the implantation of genital prosthesis, the penis can be erected normally, and there is no effect on sexual pleasure and ejaculation, so patients can basically have a satisfactory sex life. However, some complications may occur, including rupture of the prosthesis, perforation, deformation of the penis due to surgical scarring, or contraction of the scar after removal of the device, making it impossible to reimplant. In addition, spontaneous swelling of the prosthesis, fracture of the prosthesis, fluid leakage and pump failure may also occur. Therefore, when patients undergo genital prosthesis implantation treatment, they must choose regular hospitals and strictly carry out pre-operative examination and post-operative care. If the patient is not feeling well, he/she should consult the doctor for examination and early treatment.
