The general presentation of wrist soreness, especially if there is a history of trauma and prolonged overuse of the wrist joint, should lead to a consultation with hand and foot surgery; if there is a clear history of gout or rheumatoid/rheumatoid arthritis a consultation with rheumatology should be made.
