HFMD usually heals in about 1 week, but if the disease is more serious, it will take relatively longer and has some relation to the individual’s ability to recover. HFMD is a contagious disease caused by an enterovirus infection. A rash will appear on the patient’s hands and buttocks, and a herpes will appear in the mouth, which can affect other parts of the body in severe cases. If HFMD is mild and there is no fever, most patients can recover within 7 days. However, the disease also needs to be closely observed during the illness. If there are signs of neurological involvement, such as poor mental health, irritability and limb tremors, the patient needs to be hospitalized in a timely manner in the infectious disease department or the infection department. During the illness, the patient should be isolated and should take rest, drink more water, and reduce the intake of stimulating food in the diet, mainly warm, cool and soft food.
