Ferritin above 1000 should be treated.
The normal value of ferritin should be <200ug/L for men and <150ug/L for women. ferritin higher than 1000, i.e. serum ferritin >1000ug/L, is a significantly elevated condition, which is more serious, and needs to be clarified and treated as soon as possible. Common causes of elevated serum ferritin include various inflammatory diseases, malignant tumors, blood diseases and other diseases.

Hematologic diseases: such as aplastic anemia, myelodysplastic syndromes and other diseases can lead to long-term severe anemia and the need for repeated blood transfusions, resulting in elevated ferritin. Such diseases can be treated with iron removal drugs, such as injectable deferoxamine mesylate and deferasirox dispersible tablets.
