Causes of cerebral palsy

  The direct cause of cerebral palsy is a syndrome caused by brain injury and/or developmental defects before the brain matures, mainly manifesting as motor disorders, postural abnormalities, developmental neurological abnormalities, abnormal muscle tone, muscle strength, abnormal reflex development or with intellectual impairment, epilepsy, perceptual disorders, communication disorders, behavioral abnormalities, etc.  The main causes of these disorders are the following: prenatal period, maternal pregnancy, infection during pregnancy, maternal diabetes, hyperemesis, gestational toxicity, psychosis, mental retardation, maternal smoking, alcoholism, recurrent pre-eclampsia, blood group incompatibility and various physical and chemical factors, etc. Perinatal period, low birth weight, huge babies, premature birth, overdue birth, abnormal fetal position, placenta, amniotic fluid, umbilical cord, obstructed labor for various reasons, postpartum hypoxic asphyxia, etc. Postnatal ischemic-hypoxic encephalopathy, neonatal jaundice, hypoglycemia, intracranial infection, hydrocephalus, traumatic brain injury, intracranial hemorrhage, respiratory distress syndrome, etc.  Familial factors i.e. genetic factors.  The exact cause is difficult to find in modern research.
