How to read the breast immunohistochemistry report

Breast cancer immunohistochemistry results are usually reported as ER (estrogen receptor), PR (progesterone receptor), Ki67 (tumor growth index), HER2 (human epidermal growth factor receptor). ER is also called estrogen receptor, positive expression indicates hormone-dependent type, and endocrine therapy can be chosen; PR is also called progesterone receptor, positive is relatively better than negative; Ki67 refers to the tumor growth index, generally the smaller the score, the better the prognosis. If the value is higher, it means the tumor is growing faster. HER2 is called Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor which is expressed in breast cancer. If the plus sign is higher, the prognosis is relatively bad and the patient needs to be treated with targeted drugs. If the patient can’t read the breast immunohistochemistry report, he/she can consult a professional doctor in a regular hospital.
