1, the internal training of the generations of doctors The Three Kingdoms era of the famous doctor Hua Tuo needle skill is superb, known as the needle god, the author believes that this is inextricably linked to its perennial insistence on the practice of five-animal play. According to “Three Kingdoms”, “Hua Tuo, the word Yuanhua, was a Qiao man from Pei Guo …… who knew the art of nurturing. People at that time thought that he was 100 years old and had a strong appearance …… If he was a needle, it was only in one or two places. When the needle said ‘when to lead a certain Xu, if to say people’. The patient said ‘has arrived’, should then pull the needle, the disease also line difference.” If it is not based on a high level of internal energy training, it is difficult to achieve such a level of acupuncture. Later on, Wu Pu and Fan Ah learned the Five Animals from him, and “Pu was treated according to Jun Tuo, and many of them were fully helped. Sun Simiao was a medical practitioner in the Tang Dynasty who was skilled in acupuncture, moxibustion, and medicine. It is said that “when I was young and cold, I repeatedly made medical school, and the money for soup and medicine, I exhausted my family fortune. When he grew up, he learned about Lao and Zhuang and the Hundred Schools of Thought, and was a good Buddhist. At the age of 18, he aspired to study medicine and became enlightened, and many of his relatives and neighbors in China and abroad who were suffering from illnesses were helped. He first lived in seclusion in the Taibai Mountains and learned the art of channeling qi. He was a lifelong non-vocationalist, living in the mountains, and once entered Mount Emei to practice Taoist internal energy. He personally treated more than 600 cases of leprosy patients and cured as many as ten percent of them, but he was not infected, and he lived to be more than white, such a high life expectancy of medical doctors, rare in ancient and modern times, which is directly related to his persistent practice of internal energy. In the second year of Chongning of the Northern Song Dynasty, he was posthumously awarded the title of “Miao Ying Zhen Zhen”. His art of guiding the flow of qi is mainly recorded in the “Thousand Gold Essentials – Volume 27 – Nourishing Sex”: “Although always taking bait, but do not know the art of nourishing sex, but also difficult to live long. The way to nourish sex, often want to small labor, but not big fatigue, and the strong can not be. And flowing water does not rot, the household pivot is not moth-eaten, in order to its movement also”. “Both screen external edge, will have to guard the five gods (liver, heart, spleen, lungs and kidneys), from the four positive (words and actions, sitting and standing), said the most shall not floating thoughts delusion, the heart wants things, evil evil is great. Therefore, Confucius cloud: think of no evil. Always practice the Huangdi internal vision method, the idea of thinking, so that the five viscera such as hanging chimes, five colors clearly distinguishable, do not stop. Can still rise at the beginning of each day, facing noon, spread the two hands on the knees, the mind’s eye view gas into the top, down to the spring, every day, so called welcome gas.” Only on a regular basis adhere to the exercise, in the case of the time, can after do “for the needle, not away from the heart, mouth like articulated rope, eyes want to look inside, news qi blood, shall not forget the line.” Ma Danyang was originally named Congyi, the word Yifu, later changed his name to Yu, the word Xuanbao, the number Danyangzi, so the world is mostly called Ma Danyang . He was good at acupuncture and moxibustion, and his summary of the twelve points of Ma Danyang Tianxing is still widely used in acupuncture clinics. In the seventh month of the seventh year of the Jin Dynasty, Wang Chongyang came to Ninghai to preach, so Danyang and his wife Sun Buji served him, then abandoned the huge family business and became a monk, encouraging the practice of hard knots and focusing on quietness. He was given the title of “Danyang Huo Yi Wu Wei Zhen” by Yuan Shi Zu in the sixth year of the Yuan Dynasty, and became known as “Danyang Zhen Zhen”. In the Ming Dynasty, Yang Jizhou, a doctor, focused on the practice of the Zhoutian gongfu method, and focused on the cultivation of the Ren and Du channels and the five viscera of the Guiding Qi, which was recorded in the “Acupuncture and Moxibustion Dacheng”: “To know the Ren and Du channels, first close the four doors and look inside the two eyes. Meditate on the pearl of millet, right as the master of the Yellow Court. But then slowly swallow a breath of air, slowly into the Dantian. Charge up the Gate of Life, leading the Governor’s Vein over the tail and up the Mud Pill, chasing the Sexual Yuan, leading the Ren Vein down to the heavy building, and down to the Sea of Qi. The two veins go up and down, rotating like a circle; before descending and after ascending, incessantly. The mind is like water, the body is like an empty pot. About to lightly lift the valley road, nose breath gradually closed. If you are in a hurry, swallow it slowly; if you are dizzy, think about it diligently. Weary of the intention to put the reference, long and line, off the orifice since the opening, the circulation of the veins, a hundred diseases do not make.” In addition, the book also has a detailed discussion on the five viscera guide, such as in the discussion of the lung guide wrote: “Guide the scriptures: the lung for the five viscera of the Hua Gai, the voice of the out, the skin depends on it and moisten. People but internal injuries, external six sex, and breathing in and out of uncertainty, the lung gold is then unclear. However, in order to clear the lung gold, must first regulate the breath, the breath is adjusted to move the problem is not born, and the heart fire since the quiet. One down with peace of mind, the second wide in the body, the third want to think of gas all over the pores in and out, general no obstacle, and fine its heart, so that the breath micro, this is the real breath. Covering the breath from the heart, the heart is quiet and gas, breath back to the root, the mother of Jindan.” Professor Li Ding points out that “Yang’s emphasis on the guidance of the five viscera and the Ren and Du channels is seen as a clinical application of the meridian theory, which is similar to the theory of acupuncture and moxibustion, so it is important to include it as part of the book for the practice of medical practitioners and patients. The medical practitioner’s acupuncture focuses on regulating the qi and healing the spirit, while qigong guiding is performed by the person himself to regulate the qi and heal the spirit, and the two can play a better role in disease prevention and treatment. The “Spiritual Shushu: The Final Beginning” points out that the practitioner must be ‘one of his gods, so that the will is in the needle’, through specific methods to make the patient actively cooperate, to achieve the point of “to move his god, the qi to rest”. The combination of acupuncture and guidance, not only at the time of treatment, but also after the treatment of the conditioning, guiding the patient to use the appropriate guidance method, naturally, is conducive to the treatment of disease and recovery.” 2, the contemporary medical practitioners of internal energy practice The famous acupuncturist, Mr. Cheng Tan An, emphasizes the importance of internal energy practice, has discussed: “The former acupuncturists in the practice of acupuncture, the main thing is to practice qi and finger strength, which takes up almost two-thirds of the study time. The practice of qi is called the cultivation of internal energy.” “My late father was very sincere in practicing qi in Japan, but since my late father could not explain why I had to practice qi, I could not have confidence in him, and I was always less effective than my late father in clinical treatment. ” “Divine Needle Huang Shiping mantle disciple and I divine friendship for many years …… Cheng Ye Jun told Wei Jun daily practice of boxing and qigong, and needle drilling and twisting mud wall, over time, practice is quite hard, the results are also very huge.” Mr. Cheng Tan An to make students pay attention to the practice of internal energy, had entrusted the name Ziyun Shangren, in order to emphasize the importance of internal energy practice: “the needle does not hurt, depends on the nourishment of the gas, the lack of nourishment of the gas, its work is not outstanding, the way to nourish the gas, Yin time to get up, sitting on the futon, two feet up, hands pressed on the knee, waist straight chest, mouth closed eyes drooping, as in the meditation, no thoughts and no worries, a number of breath, from one to a hundred, repeatedly without interruption. The line of the dawn, Zhen Yi has been, accumulate days and months, not rest not intermittent, full of energy and vigor, a hundred evil will not invade. Mr. Fang Shen Q in 1937 authored the book “Golden Needle Secret”, a detailed record of acupuncture predecessor Huang Shiping in the Republic of China in the third year was invited to treat headaches for Yuan Shikai specific process: Yuan’s “because of the wind too long, sometimes feel headache, as soon as the thought is too much that is, three years later …… its disease is the front and back of the brain pain. The first day needle Baihui, the second day needle Fengchi, Fengfu …… first needle stabbed into, Yuan said that the mind in the development of loud, punching the wall and out, and then needle as serving Ba Dou, rhubarb, straight decision gastrointestinal and down. The teacher said: this is the wind cooling down the image, President Yuan said surprised not to put, thick thanks and returned.” As for why can achieve such amazing results, in addition to the unique selection of points, skilled techniques. There is a more critical point is easy to be ignored, that is, in the needling to do “treatment of the gods”, that is, “concentrate on the concentration, raise the whole body strength, focused on the tip of the needle” (“Huo Yuanjia and divine needle Huang”). As Mr. Huang Shiping himself said: “I began to practice Shaolin luck for a year, the collection of full strength in the finger, and then examine the evidence to identify points, the gold needle can be obtained and degree.” From this we can see, first of all, we must practice internal energy luck for years, and only after being able to gather all the strength in the fingers, then we can talk about examining the evidence and identifying the points and acupuncture techniques, otherwise it is difficult to achieve this state of perfection. According to Huang Yisong “Huang’s family acupuncture” book, Shi Ping acupuncture characteristics are: First, must be fine Shaolin boxing and internal and external qigong, in order to the whole body essence, qi, spirit three treasures in the two fingers, applied to the patient’s affected area, and have incredible wonders. Second, the pure use of gold needles, because the gold smooth and not rust; its soft nature, does not hurt the tendons and bones; its taste sweet, can dispel the wind and defeat poison, fill the weakness, harmonize the qi and blood, dredge the meridians, compared to iron and stone, very different. Huang’s needle, soft and thin and long, the longest up to one foot three inches, the shortest also has four inches, non-yin strength can not enter the point. Third, take the points with points, slightly different. Depth, complementary diarrhea, with the welcome, slow and urgent, the main guest, up and down, left and right, abdomen and back, internal organs, meridians, identify the pulse, etc., all the needles must be careful before. Huang years old pine in the recollection of Huang Shi Ping treatment said: “must first evidence of pulse, ponder for a long time, stand eyebrows, kill gas, will be left and right two hands clenched fist force, only to hear the finger bones lah lah ring. Then manipulate the needle in the hand, rubbing several times, the needle will be wrapped around the fingers, and again will be straightened several times, held in the mouth, hand like holding a tiger, the momentum is like catching a dragon, concentrate on the patient, first with the left hand big finger in the patient’s body press points, the right hand holds the needle in the pressed points are at the point, the needle slowly sent into the muscle with Yin strength, the patient has felt pain, straight to the disease, and the disease is suddenly.” Cheng Bongyan in the “Republic of famous doctor Huang Shiping” wrote: “Huang father ordered Shi Ping to worship Yuan Jue as a teacher, study and practice martial arts, when it has been three years, did not say needle thing, three years and a half, the old monk began to teach to practice needle luck method, with a vermilion pen to draw a red circle on a white wall, ordered Shi Ping a few steps away from the red circle, hit it with iron needles, hit the red circle every day, the red circle also shrinks day by day, the steps are longer, iron needle also gradually shrink After that, then changed to a small steel needle, and every needle will hit, and then changed to draw the bronze man meridian points map stabbed, the point is not hit, and then a soft gold needle, also can be inserted into the wall a few inches. Yuan Jue said: ‘Kung Fu has reached’ is then taught the human body acupuncture points and treatment of various techniques.” [11] Mr. Huang Shiping’s acupuncture learning method and experience should attract our high attention, his acupuncture learning experience is: “study and practice martial arts, when it has been three years, did not say needle thing, half of the three years, the old monk began to teach to practice needle luck method” study is equal to cultural learning, in addition to these three years is basically to practice martial arts, and later learning is also the practice of “acupuncture”. And the future study is also to practice “the method of practicing needle luck”. When practice to “change the drawing into the bronze man meridian points map stabbed, the point is not hit, and then after the soft gold needle, also can be inserted into the wall a few inches. At that time, “he then taught the human body acupuncture points and various techniques for treating diseases”. This is in line with what Mr. Cheng Tan-an said: “In the past, when acupuncturists practiced acupuncture, the main thing was to practice qi and finger strength, which took up almost two-thirds of the study time.” It fits perfectly. With this kind of rigorous basic training, why worry about the acupuncture method is not refined? What is missing in our current acupuncture teaching is the key aspect of internal training. Mr. He Puren, the old man, has been practicing Bagua Palm since he was young, and he is over 80 years old this year, but he still practices it every day. More than ten years ago, when I asked him about the influence of gong practice on the efficacy of acupuncture, he said: After practicing gong, first of all, the finger strength is enhanced, which is a necessary foundation for acupuncture technique practice, and furthermore, he can cultivate his own true qi, and through the needle body and technique, he can drive away the evil qi in the patient’s body, which is the only way to achieve the desired therapeutic effect. The needle seems to be random, but it is very quick, and the patient does not feel any pain at all. I have seen several people ask how to learn his needle technique, he always smiled but did not answer, once I asked, “Did you use the strength of the splitting fist to enter the needle?” Elder He said, “That’s right!” and asked me in detail about my practice. Later he used to tell those who studied with him, “Xiao Xu is practicing Dacheng Quan!” What he meant was that the students should all go to practice kung fu first, but unfortunately not many understood his old man’s good intentions. The famous acupuncturist Mr. Zheng Yulin, who is famous for his expertise in burning mountain fire and penetrating the sky, has always been respected by the acupuncture community for his acupuncture techniques, which, in addition to his unique techniques, are also fundamentally related to the practice of internal energy. In his early years, Mr. Zheng studied acupuncture and internal gong with a local gentleman, Mr. Huo, and was able to obtain all his knowledge. He believed that the combination of acupuncture and internal energy, not only into the needle painless, but also easy to detect the sense of gas under the needle, easy to get gas and gas to the disease, the efficacy is higher than simple acupuncture, and has warned students: many skilled acupuncturists are very deep internal energy attainment. [12] Mr. Jiao Mianzhai, a famous acupuncturist, is not only an acupuncturist, but also a master of martial arts and internal energy guiding techniques, and combines them with acupuncture techniques to significantly improve the efficacy of acupuncture. When I asked Mr. Zhang Shijie, who is famous for using the Taixi point to treat difficult diseases, for the secret of his acupuncture technique, Zhang told him that he often practiced standing pile work to nourish his qi and cure his spirit, and that his teacher was Mr. Qin Zhongsan. When I was studying at Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine around 1988, I often met Liu Du Zhou, a famous typhoid expert, in the small garden of the university. In 1986, Mr. Zhao Shaoqin, a great warm disease teacher, came to our ward to consult a patient with a fever that would not go away. I asked him about medication, but when he knew that I practiced Dacheng Quan and often pushed my hands, he said happily, “It would be good if we lived together, so we could push our hands together every morning! Mr. Zhao is a Taiji practitioner, and he is a good friend of Mr. Liu Wancang, a famous Taiji practitioner. In 1983, when I was an intern at the Acupuncture Department of Dongzhimen Hospital, I was determined to learn acupuncture after seeing the incredible efficacy of the then head of the department, Mr. Gao Hongbao, in treating infertility and other diseases. When I asked him why he was so effective, Mr. Gao said that the secret lay in his internal training and that he knew one of the disciples of Wang Xuanjie, a master of technique. I didn’t understand too much at that time, but then I had the chance to come across Dacheng Quan and marveled at its usefulness in practical combat techniques. After reading the writings of Dacheng Quan’s master, Mr. Wang Xiangzhai, I was impressed by the profound philosophy it contained, including the theory of Chinese medicine and health, and realized that Dacheng Quan actually contained the essence of martial arts and internal martial arts, so I formally studied under Xiang’s disciple, Mr. Xuanjie, and have been dedicated to practicing Dacheng Quan’s internal martial arts and combining it with acupuncture techniques. With the intention to lead the qi, qi to the disease,” the key to acupuncture. I have been practicing diligently for more than 20 years, and have been deeply impressed by my teacher’s true teachings. I am fond of techniques, especially pushing hands, and I am currently an 8th degree black belt in Dacheng Quan. Dacheng boxing internal gongfu basic gongfu is mainly pile gong, beginners can practice the Hunyuan pile: the body stands naturally, as in Taijiquan preparatory style, feet apart and shoulder width, can be an external eight, both hands point to the chest, bending elbows around, each hand like holding a balloon, the whole body relaxed like bathing in water, experience the feeling of comfort and ease, for a long time is the thing I forget, like fusing with heaven and earth as one, breathing is a natural. Long practice of this pile is a great increase in finger strength, clinical use will have incredible wonders, whether the needle into the needle or experience the needle feeling and even long needle needling deep meridians, will have the hand with the heart, the law from the hand out of the feeling, can be said that “God exists in the heart of the hand, can be solved but can not be said also”. The emphasis on the role of internal training in acupuncture is not to ignore the importance of the technique, but to require more skilled acupuncture techniques. For example, in the treatment of meridian tendon disease, we often see many patients with muscle tension and anxiety, which is the “great tendon short” as mentioned in the Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine. In this case, if the technique is not skillful and the finger strength is not enough, the pain caused by the needles may cause the patient’s muscles to become more tense or even constricted, especially in the case of acute muscle injury. Therefore, my teaching method is to let the students first practice finger strength, requiring the use of a thirty-gauge milli-needle needle to penetrate a plastic card of the same thickness as a bank card, and then use a thumb-thick hard rubber to practice needle penetration along its long axis, from the center point of one side to the center point of the opposite side, in order to practice the ability to control the long needle. Then teach it to learn the method of needling of Mr. Lu Ding Hou, which is to use long needles to needle the meridians (skeletal muscles) of the lesion. More than 10 years ago, I asked Mr. Lu to demonstrate the acupuncture technique on myself, and I was amazed by the results! For beginners, especially female students, if their finger strength is too weak, they can start by needling newspaper and increase the thickness of the newspaper as their finger strength increases. You can also use paper balls to practice, and then choose a thinner and softer rubber, and then choose a harder and thicker rubber to practice the needle. In addition, you can also use waste film, cork and a variety of leather practice, in order to mold like needling different human tissue, and gradually enhance their finger strength and feel. The above practice to a certain time, then finger force, wrist force will have a great improvement, but from the still “cure God” requirements are still a large distance, if you want to further improve the level of needling, it should be internal training. In addition to practicing Dacheng Quan, you can also practice other internal martial arts such as Xingyiquan, Bagua Quan, Taijiquan, etc. Through the martial arts in the pile work, test force, as well as pushing hands, hair force and other training, so that the artist true qi full, and can always luck finger end, the so-called intention to qi to, qi to force to, in the case of intention without force, internal energy penetration to the finger end, and through the tip of the needle to act on the body. It is conceivable that through the controlled use of the explosive force generated by martial arts internal martial arts, the body is acted upon with the tip of the needle, and the piercing process is naturally fast and painless. Martial arts internal martial arts teach spiral force, which is characterized by deep penetration and directional stability, which is similar to the trajectory of the bullet, if it is a short needle needling, the moment the needle into the needle is in a spiral into the skin. In the needle stabbing, the practitioner is required not to spill out, not to reveal the shape of the intention, to relax the body, sink the shoulders and elbows, qi through the circumference, and the end of the fingers. With the slight forceful movements of martial arts, the needle is easily and naturally inserted into the body, and the patient mostly feels no pain. Through the practice of standing pile work, strength, footwork and pushing hands, not only can finger strength be enhanced, but also the sensitivity of finger touch and the practitioner’s own determination. The combination of internal arts and acupuncture is characterized by the organic unity of God’s will and energy, so that the practitioner can better appreciate the sensation under the needle, in order to achieve the realm of “upper guard God”. At the time of acupuncture, the practitioner should first enter a state of practice, “no external admiration, such as waiting for the nobleman, do not know the day and evening”, “like the abyss, hand like holding a tiger, the gods do not camp in all things”, luck in the fingers, and then perform acupuncture. After such a hard practice, the most obvious gain is that you can initially do painless into the needle, the so-called painless into the needle, means that the patient in receiving needling although the needle body piercing, but do not feel the obvious pain. At the same time, psychological suggestion to divert their attention, even so that they do not know that the needle has been pierced, so as to eliminate the patient’s fear of needling. How can we achieve painless needle into it? Specific needle into the method is, force finger end, concentration, the use of wrist shaking, so that the needle quickly into the skin. The operator should be loose and around the body, there should not be the slightest stiffness, so that the movement is completed in a coordinated and natural and swift, as you wish to control the amount of power to pierce, the depth of the needle, accurately pierce the selected needle site. When using long needles to treat meridian disease, in the limbs and other parts of the needle is relatively safe, but in the collar, chest and back, waist and abdomen, especially the occipital region, the inner scapula with long deep needles, if the practice is not experienced enough, there is a considerable risk. However, with the above gongfu practice and a lot of clinical practice, long needles can be safely used to treat meridian diseases. After entering the needle along the long axis of the diseased meridian tendon (skeletal muscle), you can clearly perceive the location of the needle tip and the feeling under the needle, so that the needle tool to achieve the required level and depth. 4.Conclusion In the era of the “Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine” and even in later generations, internal energy training is one of the mandatory contents of every doctor, “guide” “Xing Qi” and acupuncture, poison, moxibustion x, micro-needle, etc., the purpose of which is not only to make the doctor’s own health, but also to guide patients to practice gong. At the same time, but also to guide the patient to practice, more importantly, through the practice of internal energy will make the acupuncture practitioner’s sense of touch more sensitive, more delicate movements, easier to concentrate on the spirit, more stable look. In the use of long needling treatment of meridian tendon disease, can clearly sense the location of the needle tip and the feeling under the needle, and this is the prerequisite for good results.
