Prostate cancer patients do still produce semen, but those who have had their testicles surgically removed due to prostate cancer do not. The prostate gland is involved in the body’s control of urination, secretion of prostatic fluid and transportation of semen. Cancer may only cause difficulty in urination, but semen production is not usually affected. Semen is generally produced by dividing and differentiating spermatogonia in the testes. The spermatozoa produced by division enter the lumen of the varicocele in the testes and enter the epididymis for storage, and finally ejaculate through the ejaculatory ducts and urethra. The prostate gland may cause narrowing of the ejaculatory ducts but does not affect the production of semen. However, prostate cancer surgery may remove the testicles, and once the testicles are removed, semen will no longer be produced, but nowadays, depending on the situation, it is possible to remove the testicles cautiously so as not to affect the psychology of men. Prostate cancer patients need to visit the doctor for examination and early treatment.
