Acute cholecystitis with water fasting for a few days

The duration of water fasting in acute cholecystitis is decided according to the severity of the disease, whether it is combined with complications and treatment, light cases may only need to fast for 1~2 days, while heavy cases need to fast for about 7 days.
1. If acute cholecystitis only has abdominal pain, accompanied by nausea, vomiting, constipation, etc., without high fever, chills, abdominal distension and other symptoms, it suggests that the condition is mild, only need to follow the doctor’s advice to fast for 1~2 days, no need to fast.
2. If the abdominal pain is aggravated and accompanied by high fever, chills and other symptoms, it suggests that the condition is aggravated, may be combined with gangrene and perforation of the gallbladder, and in severe cases, secondary peritonitis may occur and cause paralytic intestinal obstruction, and immediate fasting and water restriction is required, and it is generally necessary to fast for 3~4 days after the operation, and after the gastrointestinal tract function recovers, the patient can gradually eat water.
3. If acute cholecystitis is combined with other complications, such as acute suppurative cholangitis, acute necrotizing pancreatitis, immediate fasting and water fasting is required, and emergency surgery is performed. Generally, it is necessary to fast for about 7 days after the operation, and after the corresponding symptoms and indexes improve and the gastrointestinal function recovers, you can gradually eat and drink water.
4. If acute cholecystitis without complications, patients after surgery, must follow the doctor’s instructions fasting 2 ~ 3 days, water 1 ~ 2 days.
Warm reminder: patients with acute cholecystitis should consult the doctor in time for early treatment.
