Difference between pseudo incontinence and true incontinence

The difference between pseudo incontinence and true incontinence is that the causes and symptoms that trigger incontinence are different.
1. Causes
(1) Pseudo incontinence: is due to various reasons due to chronic urinary retention caused by urinary incontinence, most commonly seen in prostate hyperplasia urethral stenosis and other obstructive diseases.
(2) True incontinence: incontinence due to the patient’s urethral sphincter injury or urethral sphincter relaxation.
2. Symptoms
(1) Pseudo incontinence: the patient’s bladder function is completely uncompensated, the bladder is chronically dilated and never completely emptied, when the bladder is overfilled, the urine will continue to overflow, pseudo incontinence is also known as filling incontinence.
(2) True incontinence: the patient’s urethral sphincter can not play a normal role in controlling urine, urine will be involuntarily discharged, almost no normal urination, the bladder is empty.
