Treatment of rhabdomyolysis

The treatment of rhabdomyolysis currently consists of removing the cause of the disease, medication, and renal replacement therapy. 1. Remove the cause: removing the cause is the first part of rhabdomyolysis treatment. The common causes of rhabdomyolysis in adults are trauma and drugs, and the common cause of rhabdomyolysis in children is infection. In adults, the main focus is on treating trauma and discontinuing medications, while in children it is on controlling infections. 2. Drug therapy: including fluid resuscitation to maintain effective circulating blood volume, improve renal perfusion, appropriate application of diuretics to increase urine output; alkalinization of urine to reduce the formation of tubular, sodium bicarbonate can correct metabolic acidosis, prevent hyperkalemia, etc., to correct acid-base balance and electrolyte disorders. 3. Renal replacement therapy: The latest guidelines recommend CRRT plasma exchange combined with continuous renal replacement therapy and hemoperfusion combined with CRRT therapy to continuously and effectively remove toxins and improve patients’ prognosis. It is recommended that patients with rhabdomyolysis should go to regular hospitals in time and receive standardized treatment under the guidance of doctors.
