Can I get diabetes if I eat too much?

In fact, the etiology of diabetes is very complex and it is not certain that there is one cause for the development of diabetes. According to current research, type 1 diabetes is caused by an absolute lack of insulin due to autoimmune destruction of pancreatic beta cells, with congenital or genetic factors; while type 2 diabetes is the result of insulin resistance and progressive beta cell failure, and is related to physical fitness, genetics, dietary habits, obesity, infection and other causes. Therefore, it seems that not eating a lot will get diabetes, especially type 1 diabetes, and diet is not related. Of course, one problem is that obesity is an independent risk factor for diabetes, that is, if you eat a lot and are obese, then the possibility of getting type 2 diabetes is really high. So, high sugar intake is associated with obesity and type 2 diabetes, but it does not mean that all diabetes is caused by eating too much sugar. In particular, the development of insulin resistance in type 2 diabetes is not only related to diet, but also closely related to exercise, weight, pregnancy and genetic factors.
