Wang Danniang is 71 years old, at the end of last year, the phenomenon of the right side of the limbs weakness, lasted two weeks, but she has not paid attention to it, and when the symptoms worsened significantly, she was sent by her family members to the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University for medical treatment. According to her family, Ms. Wang was unsteady in holding things in her right upper limb when she ate dinner two weeks ago, and her right lower limb was slightly weak, and her speech was not very clear, and her vision was a bit blurred. During this period, she also visited other hospitals in the region, and the symptoms of unclear speech were slightly better, but the symptoms of weakness in the right limb gradually worsened, and she could not walk steadily. After a series of physical examinations and analysis of the patient’s condition and abnormal results of tests and examinations, Professor Yan Yi of the Department of Spinal Neurosurgery of the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University had a general judgment of the patient’s condition. In order to be more clear about the cause of the disease, Prof. Yan also asked the patient’s medical history in detail, and learned that Dame Wang had a feeling of girdle in her upper chest for more than five years. According to her physical examination, she had decreased muscle strength in her left lower limb and sensory impairment in her trunk. Prof. Yan Yi judged that it was very likely that she had both diseases at the same time. In order to further clarify the diagnosis, the patient still needed to undergo cranial MRI+enhancement+MRA and thoracic spine scanning+enhancement examination. Two days later, the results of the examination came out. In addition to cerebral infarction, Mrs. Wang also suffered from a five-year-long spinal cord tumor. After confirming the cause of the disease, Prof. Yan suggested the patient to undergo surgery. Professor Yan said that during the two days of waiting for the test results, the patient also suffered from further loss of muscle strength in both lower limbs and difficulty in urinating, which were all caused by the development of the spinal cord tumor. This stroke accelerated the symptomatic manifestation of the spinal cord tumor. The patient’s chest girdle sensation had been five years old, supposedly because the spinal cord astrocytoma is not highly malignant and grows slowly, so the disease progresses slowly. It was because of Prof. Yan’s serious and meticulous working attitude that Mrs. Wang knew that the chest sensation that had been bothering her for five years was due to the spinal cord tumor and was able to get timely treatment. Dame Wang and her family are very grateful to Prof. Yan Yi.
