Dry and blurry eyes are usually caused by dry eye syndrome, which is related to factors such as insufficient tear secretion, abnormal tear composition, and abnormal tear dynamics. 1. Insufficient tear secretion: usually due to disease or malfunction of the lacrimal gland, i.e., aqueous-deficient dry eye. 2. Abnormal tear composition (1) Lack of mucin secretion: usually due to Stevens-Johnson syndrome, ocular pemphigoid, trachoma and other factors, which induces dry eye, causing dry and blurry eyes. (2) Lipid deficiency: caused by dysfunction of the levator glands, which are glands that secrete lipids. Lipid deficiency accelerates the evaporation of water from the eyes, which can induce dry eye. 3. Abnormal tear kinetics: Dry eye syndrome is usually induced by abnormal tear kinetics that result in the inability of tears to be evenly distributed over the surface of the eye. It is common in cases of abnormal transient vision, delayed tear drainage, and conjunctival relaxation. Symptoms of the disease are varied and generally confined to the eye, with the most common symptoms including dryness, foreign body sensation, burning sensation, photophobia, blurred vision, and visual fatigue. As the disease progresses, the discomfort worsens, and in severe cases, vision can be significantly reduced. Patients should seek medical treatment in a timely manner, and at the same time develop good eye habits to prevent recurrence of the disease.
