Shortness of breath does not necessarily mean new coronavirus pneumonia. Shortness of breath can be seen in many diseases of the respiratory system, commonly acute bronchitis, wheezing bronchitis, pneumonia, emphysema, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, bronchiectasis, pleural effusion, lung cancer, tuberculosis, etc. Symptoms of chest tightness and shortness of breath can be seen. Novel coronavirus pneumonia is prone to symptoms of shortness of breath, chest tightness, and chest pain because the virus invades the lungs, and in severe cases it can quickly progress to acute respiratory distress syndrome, resulting in hypoxemia due to decreased oxygen saturation. The diagnosis of novel coronavirus pneumonia is mainly based on epidemiological history, in addition to symptoms, combined with chest CT, blood count and novel coronavirus nucleic acid test.
