What to look for in hypothyroidism

Hypothyroidism is usually checked by thyroid function, thyroid antibody, thyroid ultrasound, other tests such as blood routine, blood lipids, cardiac enzymes, etc. It is recommended that relevant tests be conducted under the guidance of the doctor. 1. Thyroid function: It is a necessary test for diagnosing hypothyroidism, including thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3). Primary hypothyroidism is usually characterized by low T3 and T4 and high TSH; central hypothyroidism is usually characterized by low TSH, T3 and T4. 2. Thyroid antibody test: thyroid peroxidase antibody (TPOAb) and thyroglobulin antibody (TgAb) are used to determine the cause of hypothyroidism. Hypothyroidism caused by Hashimoto’s thyroiditis is often positive for TPOAb and TgAb. 3. Ultrasound of the thyroid gland: Ultrasound of the thyroid gland can understand the volume of the thyroid gland, blood flow, internal echoes and so on. 4. Other items: such as blood test, blood lipids, etc. Patients with hypothyroidism may show mild to moderate anemia and elevated total serum cholesterol. Patients with hypothyroidism should go to the hospital for examination and treatment under the guidance of the doctor.
