Zygomatic bone reduction surgery involves making an incision on the skin surface, peeling off layer by layer to the zygomatic bone area, and removing the appropriate amount of bone tissue with osteotomy instruments to reduce the height of the zygomatic prominence. In clinical practice, three types of incision approaches are often used: intraoral incision approach to reduce zygomatic prominence; temporal incision approach to reduce zygomatic prominence; and scalp incision approach to reduce zygomatic prominence. Intraoral incision and temporal incision are relatively suitable for those with simple zygomatic body and simple zygomatic arch protrusion, while transscalpal incision is relatively suitable for those with high complex zygomatic body protrusion.
