How to deal with sleep disorders?

  The World Health Organization survey found that 27% of patients have sleep problems. And recent research studies have found that the prevalence of sleep disorders among Chinese residents is as high as 57%. So, what do we mean by sleep disorders?  There are four main criteria for good sleep quality: 1, sleep time is no more than half an hour; 2, dream or no dream is fine, but no nightmare; 3, deep sleep is not easy to be awakened, and can fall back to sleep within 5 minutes after waking up; 4, no matter how long the sleep time is, you should feel relieved and energetic after waking up. If a person’s sleep does not meet more than one of these four criteria, there is a sleep disorder.  Insomnia is the most common sleep disorder, but sleep disorder is by no means just insomnia, it can be divided into the following categories: 1, insomnia: the main performance is lying in bed at night tossing and turning; night often wake up, and once awake, it is difficult to sleep; some people show more dreams in sleep, sometimes for the nightmare awakening, even if there is sufficient sleep time and good sleep environment, but still do not get the ideal sleep life.  2.Drowsiness: common ones are episodic drowsiness and cyclic drowsiness related to menstruation. These people are sleeping during the day and night, but still sleepy and exhausted, which affects normal life and work.  3. Breathing-related sleep disorders: The most common one is respiratory sleep apnea due to snoring. Although these people have sufficient sleep time, they are in a chronic state of hypoxia and hypoventilation, and their sleep quality is not high.  4.Rhythm disorder: The circadian sleep rhythm is disrupted due to work, drugs, jet lag, etc., and the normal rhythm of waking up during the day and sleeping at night cannot be maintained.  5.Altered sleep: The main manifestation is abnormal movement and emotional experience during the process of waking up when sleeping or during sleep, including sleepwalking, sleep-related moaning, sleep-related eating disorder, etc.  6.Sleep-related movement disorders: The main manifestation is the recurrence of a simple, fixed action that interferes with sleep, such as restless legs syndrome, sleep-related teeth grinding, sleep-related leg pain spasms, etc.  In most cases, sleep disorders need to be treated by a medical professional. It is also important to develop good sleep habits so as to improve the quality of sleep. First, develop a good routine and sleep habits, have a regular resting time and ensure sufficient sleep time. Second, to create a good sleep environment. Avoid taking stimulating food before going to bed, such as coffee and strong tea; do not smoke one hour before going to bed, and avoid strenuous exercise. Third, to establish a good state of mind, once the problem of sleep disorders should promptly find a professional physician consultation. Fourth, to establish a good method of medication, scientific and reasonable use of drugs, to avoid adverse reactions, to ensure recovery.  If the following conditions occur, you need to go to a professional institution for timely intervention: insomnia for more than three days in a row; insomnia for two to three times a week for more than a month; easy to wake up during sleep, dreamy; loss of sleep sense, i.e., still feeling unrefreshed and tired after sleep, etc.; periodic leg movements during sleep, or dreams of hitting and cursing and waking up your bed partner, etc.
