How long can you live with cerebral palsy?

The prognosis of cerebral palsy depends mainly on the degree of intellectual impairment as well as cerebral palsy. Some children with less severe intellectual impairment and relatively mild cerebral palsy can survive for a long time. Cerebral palsy is a syndrome caused by non-progressive brain injury and developmental defects from conception to infancy, mainly manifesting as motor disorders and postural abnormalities, and is a disabling disease with a complex condition. Treatment for cerebral palsy is based on enhanced care for the child, medication, surgery, and rehabilitation education therapy. As long as the treatment is adhered to and not given up, the survival time of patients and normal people is not much different, and some of the children with slightly poor intelligence or normal intelligence can live a normal life. Parents should have confidence and patience to persist in the treatment of their children, and most children with cerebral palsy can survive for a long time. Some children with more serious conditions, such as frequent seizures that lead to increased cerebral hypoxia and low intelligence, have a poorer prognosis.
