Do newborns get vaccinated against smallpox?

Smallpox vaccination is not required for newborns.
Smallpox vaccine is used to prevent a virulent infectious disease caused by smallpox virus, mainly liquid cowpox vaccine and freeze-dried cowpox vaccine. However, smallpox was officially declared eradicated by WHO in 1980. Therefore, newborn babies do not need to be vaccinated against smallpox.
The main immunization program vaccines for children in China are hepatitis B vaccine, BCG vaccine, polio vaccine, DPT vaccine, measles vaccine, and DPT vaccine. On this basis, the DPT vaccine can be replaced by acellular DPT vaccine, and the vaccines of the National Immunization Program such as Hepatitis A Vaccine, Influenza Vaccine, Encephalitis B Vaccine, MMR Vaccine, etc. can be vaccinated.
For more information about vaccination measures for newborns, you can go to the hospital or community clinic and follow the doctor’s instructions for reasonable vaccination.
