What medications are used to treat Helicobacter pylori

At present, the clinical treatment of H. pylori mainly adopts “quadruple therapy”, i.e. 1 proton pump inhibitor + 2 antibiotics + 1 bismuth agent. H. pylori can produce various enzymes and cytotoxins, destroying the gastric mucosa, which can easily lead to chronic gastritis, gastric ulcer and even gastric cancer and other diseases. Currently, the “four-combination therapy” is recommended for the treatment of Helicobacter pylori infection. The quadruple therapy includes antibiotics, proton pump inhibitors and bismuth. There are 2 kinds of antibiotics, commonly used drugs are amoxicillin, clarithromycin, levofloxacin, metronidazole, etc.; 1 kind of proton pump inhibitor, commonly used drugs are lansoprazole, omeprazole, etc.; 1 kind of bismuth, usually choose bismuth potassium citrate or colloidal bismuth pectin. Specific drug selection should be determined by the doctor according to the patient’s condition. Helicobacter pylori infection should be seen promptly by a doctor to assess the need for eradication treatment. When undergoing treatment, the medication should be prescribed by a doctor and not abused on its own.
