How to read the MRI report card for bile duct cancer

For patients, the MRI report card of cholangiocarcinoma mainly depends on their diagnostician’s imaging description of their lesions and their diagnostic results. Cholangiocarcinoma on MRI mainly describes whether the diameter of the bile duct is normal or not, the continuity of the bile duct, the thickness of the bile duct wall, as well as the degree of T1 and T2 signals of the cholangiocarcinoma mass, and MRCP is able to show the dilatation of the bile duct caused by cholangiocarcinoma more easily. When MRCP shows the dilatation of the bile ducts, the tumor at the end of the dilated bile ducts can be seen as a T1WI low-signal and T2WI inhomogeneous high-signal mass. And MRI is able to detect the mass of bile duct cancer at the lower end of the bile duct which cannot be detected by ultrasound and CT. It is recommended to ask doctors in regular hospitals to get more detailed results and follow the doctor’s instructions to actively cooperate with the treatment, so as to avoid delaying the condition.
