This drug has relatively few adverse effects, mainly dizziness, dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, headache, gastrointestinal disorders, insomnia, etc. It is a partial agonist of 5HT-1A receptors. At usual doses this drug has no significant sedative, hypnotic, or muscle relaxing effects, and no dependence. This drug can be used for anxiety states caused by various neurological disorders, as well as for anxiety states associated with somatic diseases, and for the booster treatment of depression. Of course, this drug is not as effective as tricyclic antidepressants for panic attacks, does not have more mutual cross-reactivity when interacting with other sedative drugs and alcohol, and does not affect the patient’s mechanical operation or vehicle driving.
