Causes and treatments of toothed tongue

Dentate tongue is caused by over-sized tongue or crowded teeth, which results in the tongue pressing on the teeth and leaving teeth marks on the tongue; dentate tongue can be treated with medication, surgery or orthodontics according to the different causes of the disease.
1. Dentate tongue is a kind of abnormal tongue shape, and its common causes include hypertrophy of tongue body due to inflammation, tumor, etc., which presses on the teeth; in addition, abnormal position of teeth, such as crowded arrangement, etc., can also make the tongue body press on the edge of the teeth, which in turn causes dentate tongue.
2. If the dentate tongue is caused by inflammation, need to take anti-inflammatory drugs such as metronidazole, amoxicillin, and at the same time to maintain good oral hygiene to avoid further progress of inflammation; if the dentate tongue is caused by tumors, need to carry out the relevant surgical treatment according to the principle of tumor treatment or radiotherapy; tooth position abnormalities need to carry out orthodontic treatment in order to align the teeth to eliminate the cause of the disease.
Dentate tongue must be consulted as soon as possible, according to the different causes to be corrected, so as not to delay the condition, the use of drugs need to follow the doctor’s instructions.
