Can a nervous breakdown develop into schizophrenia

A neurasthenia does not necessarily develop into schizophrenia. If the patient’s so-called neurasthenia is some early manifestation of schizophrenia that is not recognized, it is possible for the patient in this case to develop schizophrenia. If the patient’s own early symptoms of neurasthenia are not early manifestations of schizophrenia, they usually do not develop into schizophrenia. Exactly what the neurosis will eventually develop into, or how to predict its development, depends mainly on the cause of the neurosis. If the patient himself has depression problems, may eventually develop into depression; if there is anxiety or insomnia, may eventually develop into more severe anxiety, or severe insomnia; if only a short-term negative life events, resulting in short-term neurasthenia, with the gradual fading of the negative life events, the patient’s symptoms may gradually fade. If the negative life events have a very great impact on the patient, it is also possible to develop into severe depression, anxiety, or somatization disorder.
