Forking, also known as acute chest and rib pain, is a sudden spasm of the respiratory muscles that usually occurs during exercise, especially running, and produces pain in the chest and ribs. It disappears naturally after the movement stops. Abdominal massage, slow deep breathing or abdominal breathing can accelerate its relief. Symptoms and manifestations of forking pain: Sudden pain in the front chest or under the ribs, with a feeling of being out of breath. Usually there is no fixed location, the pain area range is relatively large, there may also be accompanied by dyspnea, chest tightness and shortness of breath, back pain, or even a pins and needles sensation. Coughing, deep breathing, sneezing, and turning around forcefully may deepen or alleviate the symptoms of off-air. When there is no warm-up before exercise, insufficient warm-up, or wrong postural preparation, the muscles may not be able to keep up with the rhythm of breathing, thus producing spasmodic pain and inducing forks in the air. It is recommended to stop exercising immediately, pay attention to rest, and adjust breathing. If it cannot be relieved, it is recommended to seek medical attention for symptomatic treatment.
