Macular edema is more difficult to heal on its own even after 3 to 6 months, but the exact prognosis is related to the patient’s condition. Macular edema is a common disease in ophthalmology and can be caused by a variety of reasons, such as retinal vein embolism, diabetic retinopathy, and centralized plasma retinochoroidopathy. Central plasma retinochoroidopathy has the possibility of self-healing, macular edema can gradually subside, improving the patient’s vision. However, macular edema caused by retinal vein embolism and diabetic retinopathy is more difficult to heal on its own. Patients can be treated with intravitreal injections of anti-neovascular drugs to promote the regression of macular edema, and commonly used drugs include compazine, abciximab, and rezucizumab. Usually, patients have to go through several treatments to effectively control macular edema, but there is still a possibility of recurrence. It is recommended that patients with macular edema should consult a doctor in time to evaluate their condition and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
