Can prostatitis cause nephritis?

Prostatitis does not usually cause nephritis directly, but in rare cases it may cause acute pyelonephritis.
Prostatitis can be divided into acute and chronic, of which chronic prostatitis is the most common in the clinic, acute and chronic bacterial prostatitis is relatively rare. It is often the case that the prostate gland is swollen and the local temperature increases, and the infection can spread further and cause seminal vesiculitis, epididymitis, and other infections of the reproductive system.
The prostate and kidney anatomical parts are far away from each other, and chronic prostatitis affects the local and pelvic cavity, generally speaking, it will not cause nephritis. If acute bacterial prostatitis is caused by retrograde infection of the prostate from the urethra, the bacteria may travel further up to the kidneys and cause acute pyelonephritis, but the chances are small.
