What are the symptoms of recurrent rectal cancer

Symptoms of recurrence of rectal cancer mainly include pain, blood in stool, stool becoming more and more thin, and lethargy and fatigue.

1. Pain: pain in perineum, anal area, sacrococcygeal area often occurs, and the pain can radiate to lower limbs. It is worth noting that the most common initial symptom of postoperative recurrence of rectal cancer is pain.

2. Blood in stool: When rectal cancer recurs and cancer cells continue to invade blood vessels of normal tissues or cancer tumor ruptures and is complicated by infection, blood in stool will appear.

3. Frequent and thin stools: due to the presence of rectal mass, the intestinal lumen will be narrowed, which will lead to symptoms such as heaviness, frequent and thin stools, and so on.

4. Loss of weight and fatigue: due to the consumptive effect of malignant tumor, one will become more thin and fatigue.

Therefore, after rectal cancer surgery, one must pay attention to the above symptoms for early detection and early treatment. If it is clear that there is recurrence, it must be actively treated to control the development of the disease, and it needs to be further clarified whether there is metastasis in other parts of the body.
