Diary of post-operative care for Siamese twins

Friday, September 11 Sunny Today was a special day – the first day after my sister and I were separated, we could not breathe on our own, we had to rely on the machine to help. The nurses and aunties tensed up the “string”, constantly watching the monitoring indicators on the monitor; checking whether the various catheters on our bodies were smooth, whether they were securely fixed, and whether the nature and amount of drainage fluid were normal; regularly turning us, patting our backs, and suctioning us; checking the condition of our skin and wounds all over our bodies. Observe each infusion pump is, strictly control the amount of fluid going in and out of our body; when we both frowned and had painful expressions, the nurse aunt would gently and gently touch us. Saturday, September 12 Cloudy Today, my sister and I got off the ventilator successfully, but our condition is not very stable yet; both my sister and I have a little fever, and our wounds are painful and uncomfortable. Whenever the nurses and aunties were giving us chest physiotherapy, they would put a small pillow on our chest and then hold our two small hands on the pillow. At first we didn’t understand, but then we realized that they were worried about aggravating the wound pain when we cough, so they purposely put a small pillow on our chest for us to hold, which can reduce the tension of the chest wound, ease the pain and make the chest physiotherapy more effective This can reduce the tension of the chest wound, reduce the pain, make the chest physiotherapy more effective, and avoid the appearance of pulmonary complications. Since our sisters’ livers were also separated during the surgery, the nurse aunt paid close attention to our wounds and internal bleeding. Today is our third day after surgery. In order to help us recover our bowel movement as soon as possible, the nurse aunt has to turn us every hour and massage our abdomen from time to time. This gave the nurses and aunties a problem, they racked their brains, for us to think thoroughly, look, these two small pillows are specially made for us, lying on a soft crib, open your eyes, feel more comfortable than ever before, through the skylight, only to find that the sky is so blue, the night is so beautiful, even the stars are winking at me. It was so wonderful to sleep in a different position. Monday, September 14, cloudy Today, my sister had her stomach tube removed and was able to drink a small amount of sugar water. The nurses and aunties were very happy about this. Every time they gave her sugar water, they were very careful and strictly controlled the amount of sugar, and they closely observed her abdominal condition after feeding her. I did not recover as fast as my sister, so the nurses and aunts took special care of me, and in order to take care of my emotions, they secretly fed sugar water to my sister every time, for fear that I would “quarrel” with them and that I would have a craving. This afternoon, when the nurse was changing my diaper, she heard me fart and informed the doctor right away, and the doctor said that I was doing well and that the stomach tube could be removed tomorrow. Today is our 5th day after surgery, our abdominal drainage tube has to be left in place for about 2 weeks, so it is especially important to prevent the abdominal drainage tube from falling off, so the nurse aunt is doing nursing operations for us, especially when turning us over, she is very careful and always observes the condition of the tube, and when changing our wound, she especially observes the integrity of the skin around the abdominal drainage tube. Wednesday, September 16, cloudy Today I was almost “dancing” because I finally relieved myself of my stool, so the nurse removed my stomach tube, and I knew I couldn’t be in a hurry. When I heard my stomach growling, I could only lick my hands, but when the nurse saw me, she used a small glove to wrap my hands, and brought a lot of toys to keep me happy. Today is exactly one week after the operation, my sister and I are gradually recovering under the careful care of the nurses and aunties. Our body temperature is stable, our abdomen is normal, our chest and abdomen wounds are growing well, and there is no sign of infection, I finally tasted what sugar water tastes like today. The nurses and aunts also let us sisters have a close contact today, put us both together, at first the forgetful sister did not seem to recognize me, so sad, but fortunately it did not take long, finally she recognized me, and also reached out a small hand to touch me, I was very happy, looking at everyone, revealing a sweet smile!
