The drug is contraindicated in patients who are using nitroglycerin or other organic nitrate-containing drugs and those with cardiovascular disease, and in patients suffering from diseases that predispose to erectile dysfunction, such as sickle cell anemia. The drug should be used with caution in patients with severe renal or hepatic impairment, hypotension, and retinal diseases. Possible adverse reactions include present dyspepsia, diarrhea, dry mouth, vomiting, dysphagia, tinnitus, malaise, pain, and chills.
