Artificial liver usually lasts about six months to three years, depending on the recovery of liver function. In clinical practice, artificial liver is mainly used to treat the symptoms of liver failure through artificial intervention. If liver failure cannot be recovered after the artificial liver is performed, and when it can only be maintained by the artificial liver, it can generally only be maintained for about half a year to one year. However, if the liver function recovers relatively well, its maintenance time will be relatively longer, usually around two to three years. It should be noted that long-term artificial liver may cause the body to bleed, infection, and in serious cases, it may be life-threatening. Therefore, if conditions permit, patients are recommended to undergo liver transplantation, which can effectively prolong life.
