Low and yellow urine volume does not necessarily mean uremia, but is most likely due to insufficient blood volume. The main causes of insufficient blood volume mentioned here are vomiting, diarrhea, and more sweating without corresponding fluid replacement, especially drinking less water. If you can’t drink water, you can also rehydrate intravenously, and if you don’t treat accordingly, then it will cause hypovolemia. After the blood volume is insufficient, the kidneys are not perfused enough and the urine produced is concentrated, so the urine will be reduced and appear yellow. This condition is usually caused by physiological factors and requires attention to drink more water, or if you cannot drink water, intravenous blood volume supplementation. After treatment, the condition will basically improve. And the diagnosis of uremia is mainly based on blood creatinine. If the patient’s blood creatinine is significantly elevated and has exceeded 707μmol/L, and it is gradually developed from chronic kidney disease, then this condition is considered to be in the uremic phase. Therefore, when patients have low urine volume and yellowing, if uremia is suspected, it is recommended to perform kidney function tests to observe whether creatinine has reached the above-mentioned index.
