The difference between eczema and dermatitis

Eczema and dermatitis belong to the same skin category, but the two diseases are often confused in daily life: 1. The overall variability of eczema is greater than that of dermatitis, which is not degenerative. The inflammation of dermatitis is mostly confined to the acute, subacute and recovery periods, and chronic dermatitis is less common. 2. The sites of dermatitis are mostly exposed, i.e., exposed to allergens and eczema, and are more scattered. 3. The duration of dermatitis is short and recurrence is rare, while the duration of eczema is long and prone to recurrence. The severity of acute dermatitis is heavier than that of acute eczema, with more erythema and edema and more blisters, often accompanied by large blisters. The degree of inflammation in eczema is lighter than in dermatitis, with few large blisters seen and characteristic punctate eruptions.4. Dermatitis has a clearer cause, namely exposure to allergens, and a significant proportion of allergens are easily identified, but the direct cause of eczema is difficult to confirm.5. In terms of skin lesions, the damage in dermatitis is more concentrated and clearly defined, while the lesions in eczema are more scattered, whole and in groups, often without clear boundaries.
