Ophthalmoplegia is a congenital malformation of eye development, commonly associated with various congenital genetic disorders, usually with other malformations and mental retardation. The cause is unknown. It is usually a result of faulty gene expression during embryonic development. It may result from embryonic malformations caused by abnormalities of the first and second gill arches and the vasculature of the spine and eye. It is most often seen in the offspring of consanguineous marriages. Crooked eye fissures are one of the clinical signs of pediatric oculo-ocular-spinal syndrome. There may be cardiovascular malformations, pulmonary, renal, dental and intellectual abnormalities, including those with no oblique position at all but both eyes are abnormal. Ocular corneal dermatomas, eyelid defects, ptosis, small corneas and small eyeballs, crooked eye fissures and cataracts are all possibilities. The following manifestations are associated: 1. Ear Para-auricular, pre-auricular fistula, deafness, and external auditory canal agenesis. Facial deformities such as small jaw deformity, hare lip, giant mouth (transverse cheek cleft), zygomatic hypoplasia, and misalignment of teeth. 3.Spinal deformity The manifestations are different forms of scoliosis and bone healing, but there may also be rib abnormalities, skull deformities, limb and foot deformities. 4.Other There may also be cardiovascular malformations, lung, kidney, dental and intellectual abnormalities. What are the symptoms of ophthalmoplegia in the disease? The symptoms of radiation cataract include: deprivation of amblyopia, loss of color vision, whitening of the pupil, and distortion of the eye fissure. Posterior cataracts are accompanied by symptoms such as: white halos, loss of color vision, and distorted eye fissures.
