If the patient’s thyroid function is normal and there is no combination of goiter and compression, treatment is usually not required. Hypothyroidism caused by Hashimoto’s thyroiditis usually requires lifelong thyroid hormone replacement therapy. Hypothyroidism caused by Hashimoto’s thyroiditis should be treated with medication under the direction of a doctor, and the dose of the medication should not be adjusted on its own.
