Reed Root is a traditional Chinese medicine, which is the fresh or dried rhizome of Reed, family Gramineae, taste sweet, cold in nature, belonging to lung and stomach meridians, with the effects of clearing heat and fire, removing vexation, stopping vomiting, generating fluids to quench thirst, and inducing diuresis, and it can be used in treating vexation of heat illnesses, vomiting of gastric heat, coughing of lung heat and heat drenching (burning and stabbing pain obvious during urination, accompanied by frequent urination and urgency, and discomfort of pulling on the small intestine), astringent pain and other symptoms.
