What patients should be aware of after intravenous urography

Intravenous urography (IVP) is a diagnostic test to visualize the kidney, ureter and bladder by intravenous injection of contrast agent. It is a commonly used test in urology and gynecology, characterized by low pain and high diagnostic efficiency, especially for urinary stones and urinary excretory function with authoritative diagnostic purpose. After the contrast is finished, observe for any discomfort and drink more water to facilitate the discharge of contrast agent as soon as possible. Observe in the waiting room for 30 minutes before leaving. If there are symptoms such as rash, itchy throat, or breathlessness, you should seek medical consultation in time to avoid accidents. If you are taking anti-sensitizing medication before the examination, you should continue to take it according to the doctor’s prescription in order to avoid “delayed allergic reaction” to the contrast agent in individual patients. Return to the doctor’s office on time to receive the report.
