Pediatric Cough Chinese Medicine Scriptures

There are many Chinese medicine prescriptions for pediatric cough, which need to be selected according to the identification and typing, and currently the commonly used prescriptions are Jin Bo Cao San, Sang Ju Drink, Qing Ning San, Sha Shen Maidong Tang and so on. 1. Jin Bo Cao San: with the efficacy of dispersing cold and promoting the lungs (promoting the lungs and dispersing cold), it is often used in the treatment of children’s wind-cold cough (cough caused by wind-cold), which can be seen in frequent coughing, itchy throat and heavy voice, generalized pain and symptoms such as floating and tightening of the pulse. 2. Sang Ju Drink: It has the effect of dispersing wind and purging lungs (dispersing wind and purging lungs of evil qi) and is often used in treating pediatric wind-heat cough (wind-heat evil qi invading the lungs), which can be seen as symptoms such as coughing, yellowish and sticky sputum, and sweating due to bad wind. It is not recommended to use this formula for patients with wind-cold cough. 3. Qingning San: with the effect of clearing lung and resolving phlegm (removing lung heat and dissolving phlegm), this formula is often used in treating children’s phlegm-heat cough (cough caused by phlegm-heat), which can be characterized by cough with yellow sputum, red face and lips, and yellow urine. 4. Sha Shen Mai Dong Tang: with the effect of nourishing yin and moistening the lungs (replenishing the body’s yin to moisturize the lungs), it is often used in the treatment of children’s yin deficiency cough (cough caused by lack of yin), which can be seen as a dry cough with no phlegm, not easy to cluck out, thirst and dry throat, as well as symptoms such as heat in the hands, feet and heart. It is contraindicated in the treatment of external cough and coldness of spleen and stomach (weak and cold spleen and stomach). The adverse reactions and contraindications of the above drugs are not clear. There may be other types of pediatric cough and other medications, which need to be guided by a TCM physician, and unauthorized use of medications may have serious adverse effects on the body.
