If both husband and wife have abnormal reproductive function, such as ovulation dysfunction, low sperm vitality, fallopian tube blockage and other diseases, a one-time sexual intercourse may not result in pregnancy. This is because abnormalities in a couple’s reproductive function can interfere with normal conception, which is predicated on the combination of a mature egg and sperm. When neither is present, pregnancy usually does not occur.
