The effects of danzhong point are to ease the liver and relieve depression (treating depression by unblocking the liver qi), regulate qi, stop coughing and calm asthma (stopping coughing and calming wheezing), and lowering the rebelliousness and stopping vomiting (stopping upwardly rushing gastric qi and stopping vomiting).
The danzhong point belongs to the Ren vein, where the zongqi gathers. It is located on the anterior midline, flat 4th intercostal space. It can be taken at the midpoint of the line between the two nipples. Danzhong acupoint is used to treat heartache, choking, hiccups, postpartum breast milk, cough, asthma, chest tightness, carbuncle, breast fetish (painful lumps in the breasts, closely related to the menstrual cycle and emotional changes, equivalent to mammary hyperplasia) and other conditions.
