It is usually better to be positive for 1 of the 5 liver tests, i.e. hepatitis B surface antibody, which suggests that the patient has antibodies against the hepatitis B virus in his/her body.
Hepatitis B penta is a serologic marker for the detection of the hepatitis B virus, including: hepatitis B surface antigen, hepatitis B surface antibody, hepatitis B e antigen, hepatitis B e antibody and hepatitis B core antibody.
1. Hepatitis B surface antigen: Positive indicates that the patient is infected with hepatitis B virus.
2. Hepatitis B Surface Antibody: Positive indicates that the patient has antibodies against Hepatitis B virus.
3. Hepatitis B e antigen: Positive indicates that the hepatitis B virus in the patient’s body is replicating actively and is in the period of strong infection.
4. Hepatitis B e antibody: positive suggests that the replication activity of hepatitis B virus is weakened.
5. Hepatitis B core antibody: positive indicates that the patient has been infected with hepatitis B virus.
From the results of the above five indicators, only positive hepatitis B surface antibody is a good result of the patient’s hepatitis B penta test.
