Moxibustion can be used to treat tendon sheath cysts. As one of the more common Chinese medicine treatments, moxibustion is effective in treating tendon sheath cysts. A tendon sheath cyst is essentially a cystic swelling that occurs within the tendon sheath of a joint, and is caused by degeneration of the connective tissue in the joint capsule, ligaments, and tendon sheaths, and its contents are mostly synovial fluid produced by degeneration of the connective tissue in the joint and its surrounding tendons. The therapeutic mechanism of moxibustion is to act on the localization of the cyst by generating heat, thus promoting local blood circulation, improving the meridians, and thus promoting the absorption of synovial fluid in the localized cyst, so that the tendon sheath cyst can be shrunk to a certain extent and the production of synovial fluid can be reduced. Tendon sheath cysts can be treated with moxibustion, but patients should pay attention to the need for treatment under the guidance of a doctor, not to be used arbitrarily.
